The exhibition traces the work of contemporary Russian artists who turn their attention to the aestetics of comics. Until recently Russia was deprived of comics culture and thus comics tradition stayed ailen to Russia - though the country had its own strong trends of cartoons and caricature. The artists - among whom are the famous ones (Gosha Ostretsov and Vlad Monroe) as well as the new names (Zoe Cherkassky) - present at the exhibition their work showing the transformation of the comics tradition on the ground of the contemporary Russian art.

January 20, 2005 at the Guelman Gallery takes place the conference "Comics and the contemporary artistic process". Participants - the artists and everyone willing to take part - will discuss the pecularities and characteristic features of comics in Russia and its influence on contemporary art.
